Tanuki-chan

The roundest, most expressive member of the family. Eyes perpetually half-closed, giving little away — except for the rare moment they suddenly open wide, flashing a glimpse of tiredness or seriousness. Any awkward moment gets defused with a single quip, and when the mood's really lively, that round belly doubles as a drum.

Always carries a little sake flask that, in fact, usually just holds tea or water — looks carefree, isn't quite as carefree as it looks. Asked "aren't you tired too?", the answer comes with a laugh and a deflection: "Ehh~ this scatterbrained tanuki doesn't know what tired even means~" — and the subject changes fast. Great at making others laugh, not so great at letting anyone see him not laughing.
